Arterberry Maresh 2014 Juliard Pinot Noir $58

The 2014 Pinot Noir Juliard Vineyard has a sultry bouquet, more backward with oyster shell, marine-like scents coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, very well balanced with brown spices developing towards the finish that fans out with confidence. There is everything you can want in an Oregon 2014 Pinot Noir here, and I suspect it will age with style and aplomb. – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 92 points

Arterberry Maresh 2012 Weber Pinot Noir $58 LIBRARY

The 2012 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard offers a fragrant bouquet with ebullient red berry fruit, cumin and rosemary, hints of peppermint and wild fennel becoming accentuated with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a mixture of red and black fruit on the entry. Good acidity here, fruit-forward, although not as complex or as energetic as Jim Maresh’s other two Pinot Noir 2012s, it offers attractive bacon fat and white and black pepper notes on the finish. Enjoy this over the next 4 or 5 years. – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 89 points

Arterberry Maresh 2011 Maresh Pinot Noir $58 LIBRARY

The Arterberry Maresh 2011 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard pours forth an ethereally high-toned combination of red berry distillates, fresh berry scents, and nut extracts such as I associate with Pinots from this site and some of its Worden Hill Road neighbors, and found also in the extraordinary 2005 that Maresh’s father Jim Arterberry crafted from these vines, which I tasted nearly alongside. (See my note in this report). Ginseng tea and bittersweetly perfumed iris waft across generously juicy cherry and red currant, while mineral salts, meat broth, mushroom stock and crustacean shell reduction all open the doors to umami and liberate the salivary glands in an incandescent and ravishingly rejuvenating finish. Also reminiscent in this 2011 of a perfectly resolved, mature wine is the silken-smooth palate texture, along with an almost airy sense of levity and elegance, yet all the while allied though to penetrating fruit and mineral intensity. I can’t imagine it proving less than amazing through at least 2027. Happily, there are around 350 cases, as opposed to the mere 250 there were of 2010. – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 95 points

Arterberry Maresh 2011 Gehrts Pinot Noir $35 LIBRARY

Maresh’s 2011 Pinot Noir Gehrts Vineyard features sweetly ripe but brightly juicy dark cherry fruit, at first seeming considerably simpler than its stable mates, but as it takes on air reveals some of the clean meatiness I am coming to associate with this site. Fine-grained tannins; stimulating cut of tart fruit skin; and mouthwatering salinity add to the appeal of a Pinot apt to acquire textural patina and complexity over the coming decade if not beyond. – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 90 points
