Living and farming in the Dundee Hills since 1969 has its perks, one of which is our long term relationships with some of the best wine grape farmers in the area. Our Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is a blend of Maresh Vineyard and other vineyard fruit from our neighbors.

2017 Vintage

The 2017 Dundee Hills Pinot noir is a blend of vineyards from Dux, Anderson Family, Weber and Maresh. The 2017 vintage is a change of pace from the last three years of early picks in the heat. A cold spring pushed picking dates into a classic Oregon October allowing flavors to run far ahead of sugars. The 2017 Dundee Hills is fresh and delicate. Very much a Dundee Hills red fruited Pinot noir that you will find drinks pretty easy and quickly.

Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills has a lovely open nose of warm cinnamon stick, cranberry and baked red cherry pie with black tea leaf and potpourri spice. Light to medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with warm red fruit and layers of baking spice, earth and mineral—dried leaves, oolong tea, warm earth—with a good frame of fine-grained tannins and plenty of juicy acidity, finishing long and spicy. 550 cases produced.

Vivid red. Mineral- and spice-tinged aromas of fresh red and blue fruits are complicated by hints of licorice and musky earth. Clean and racy on entry, then deeper in the midpalate, offering bitter cherry, raspberry and boysenberry flavors with a sweetening touch of candied flowers. Subtle tannins come up slowly on a shapely, finely etched finish that lingers with impressive, floral-dominated persistence. There’s only 12.8% alcohol here.

2015 Vintage

The 2015 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is made with all Dundee Hills fruit from Maresh, Folly Hill, Weber, and Dux Vineyards. These are all highly pedigreed vineyards and the wine includes lots of old vine fruit. A wine shop owner describes this wine as having flavors of “Toasty Strawberries, Huckleberries, Cherry Blossoms, Dried Orange Peel”.

Bright red. Highly perfumed red berry preserve, Asian spice and rose oil aromas are lent vivacity by a smoky mineral nuance. Silky, expansive raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors show very good energy and pick up a smoky flourish with aeration. Finishes juicy, gently sweet and quite long, featuring lingering red fruit flavors and discreet tannins.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills is a blend of Maresh, Juliard, Weber, Gehrts and Folie Hill vineyards. It has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, touches of blood orange with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin – a mixture here of red and black fruit, meaty in style with a Pommard-like finish that lingers in the mouth. – Neal Martin

Brilliant red. High-pitched raspberry and rose scents are complemented by hints of anise and allspice. Shows very good energy and depth to the red berry and floral pastille flavors, which are given lift by a spine of juicy acidity. Closes smooth, spicy and very long; fine-grained tannins frame the juicy, appealingly sweet red fruit. This wine delivers outstanding value and shows impressive nerve for a warm vintage.

Bright red. Aromas of cherry pit and dark berry skin, with exotic Indian spice and wood smoke notes adding complexity. Juicy, concentrated and smooth, offering gently sweet, palate-caressing blackberry and rose pastille flavors that show good depth and power for the year. Finishes smooth, sappy and long, with dusty tannins coming in slowly to add grip. A big success for an entry-level bottling from this vintage.
